David was a Board member of the NHPCC for five years. His friendship, creative ideas, and his passion to fulfill our mission to end the deaths of men from prostate cancer was inspiring. We watched his struggle with this cancer and while we could only support him through our prayers and encouragement we drew strength from his fight.
We have lost other members of our Board over the years and as with their passing, we again, dedicate ourselves to the mission, which they had fought so hard to achieve. The battle against all forms of cancer is a war. It is not fought on a battlefield, but in the laboratory, in the continued research, the trials, in events to make people aware of the signs so early detection is achieved. As Lincoln said, “It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion…”
David is at peace, his struggle is over, but his memory continues. We will join with his family and friends at the Memorial Service to be held at St. Jude’s Church in Londonderry.
